Yola Magistrate Court Docked Medical Doctor For Alleged Raping Married Patient

A medical doctor working with Yola Specialist hospital, Dr. Philip T. Duru was reportedly arraigned before the Yola Chief Magistrate Court 1 for allegedly raping a married patient.

According to the police prosecutor, the medical doctor after examining the victim who happens to be a married woman in his private clinic/ laboratory which is near the Specialist hospital raped her, contrary to section 64 and 260 of the panel code.

The presiding magistrate Aliyu Bawuro after preliminary hearing the case adjourned to 26th November 2020 for further hearing.

During the court presiding officials of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) FIDA had watching brief as the magistrate ordered that the suspect be remanded in the correctional service, Yolde Pate in Yola.

When contacted police spokesman in the state, DSP Suleiman Nguroje said that ‘’Actually, it’s true, the matter was reported to police through a complaint made by the victim that on a fateful day she and her husband visited the hospital where she met the doctor concerned about some health challenges that have to do with her.

‘’After he places her on some medical tests, and he decided to make some checking, eventually, he alleged that she had penetration into her, which she believes the man applied tactics in penetrating her and that’s what prompted her to report the matter.

‘’ And immediately the police after receiving the report, they swung into action by inviting the suspect who was given ample opportunity to give us his side of the story, knowing fully that the investigation is still ongoing and decided to arraign him before a court while we await the outcome of the investigation.

‘’ The Command is doing everything legally possible to gather both human and material pieces of evidence that will help the Command to establish the offense leveled against him.

‘’Notwithstanding, he equally has rights to raise all his defenses to earn his freedom and the matter as I am talking to you is before the Chief Magistrate court while investigation still going on.

In the meantime, efforts to get the state chairman of Nigeria Medical Association proved abortive as management of Yola Specialist hospital declined to comment.

Kidnappers Abduct Minister of Agriculture’s brother in Kano

Suspected gunmen on Monday morning stormed the family house of Minister of Agriculture, Alh Sabo Nanono, and whisked away his brother named, Babawuro Tofai.

Personal Assistant to the Minister, Umar Wali who confirmed the abduction  said the gunmen attacked the house around 1.00 am, in Gabasawa local government area of Kano State

‘’Before abducting Babawuro Tofai, a young boy in the house was also beaten and he sustained a fracture in the course of the attack,’’ said Wali.

He said they are yet to get communication with the abductor.

Reports earlier say  that earlier on Monday around 2.00 am, gunmen attacked Tumpapi village, Garko local government area beheaded a man and matcheted his son.

The duo were buried around 9.00 am on Monday.

The spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, when contacted could not be reached as his phone was switched off.

Just in: Gunmen abduct Nasarawa APC Chairman

Mr Philip Tatari Shekwo, the chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), in Nasarawa State, has been kidnapped, by unknown persons.

Mr. Emmanuel Bola Longe, Police Commissioner in the state, who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview, said unidentified gunmen in large number stormed the resident of the APC chairman near Dunamis Church, Bukan Sidi, in Lafia, yesterday around 11pm and took him away to an unknown destination.

Mr Longe, stated that security agencies had reacted swiftly by deploying personnel to different forests locations in the state to ensure safe release of the chairman by his abductors.

Gunmen Kill Student Union Leader, advocate of #SecureNorth

A Kaduna student union leader, Comrade Auwal Rabiu, has been confirmed killed, as gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked motorists on the road linking the Kaduna international airport and the Rigasa station of the Kaduna-Abuja train.

Rabiu Auwal, is an advocate of #SecureNorth, a group campaigning against insecurity.

The gunmen also injured one Umar Bn El-Khatab while one other person identified as Sani Digana is feared to have been abducted during the attack.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna state government while confirming the incident said, security operatives repelled the attacks and rescued two persons, Sahabi Lawal and Dan Aliko.

Reports say  that the three young men were inside a vehicle when the gunmen fired at them around 9:pm on Friday along the Kaduna airport link road to Rigasa train station in Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

A youth leader in Rigasa Abdul’azeez Madugu popularly known as (Dan Dubai) said the deceased funeral prayer took place around 8:am Saturday at their family home in the area

“Late Auwal Rabiu is the current Present of Rigasa old students association and the three of them were returning from Rigachikun area around 9:pm on Friday when the gunmen opened fire on their vehicle

“Auwal was the one driving and the bullet hits him and died. But Umar El-khatab was shot on the leg while the third person Sani was abducted,” he said.

Madugu explained that gunmen have always attacked the route at night targeting vehicles plying the route.

Meanwhile, Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan in a statement on Saturday explained that the deceased and his friends were hit by stray bullets of the bandits.

Aruwan said, “The security agencies have informed the Kaduna State Government that they have repelled armed bandits on Friday night in Igabi local government area.

“According to the agencies, the armed bandits ambushed troops and security operatives patrolling Rigasa-Link Road at Rugar Bello Junction.

“The operatives rescued two persons, Sahabi Lawal and Dan Aliko while Sani Khalil is still missing.

“Similarly, the Armoured Personnel Carrier of the police was riddled with bullets.

“The bandits who were denied freedom of action escaped while stray bullets hit two citizens driving from the Mando axis of the Rigasa-Link Road.

“The two citizens were rushed to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital but sadly, one of them, one Rabiu Awwal died while the second citizen (Umar El-Khattab) is responding to treatment.

“Governor Nasir El-Rufai has sent condolence to the deceased’s family and offered prayers for the repose of his soul. The Governor wishes the citizen recuperating a speedy recovery.

“The Governor also commended troops and police personnel that repelled the armed bandits and rescue of two citizens.

“The troops and police are still carrying out aggressive patrols in the general area.

“The government will continue to keep citizens informed of security development,” Aruwan said.
